From north to south of Tenerife, the Three Wise Men once again displayed their magic throughout all the towns on the Island. Aboard helicopters, convertible cars, minibuses or camels, Their Majesties from the East were reunited with some children who have suffered the pandemic, without being able to go out to play, and without really knowing the magic of some Kings whom they have seen from afar, at full speed on a carriage or a car, and that this year, for the first time, many of they have been able to verify that they really exist.
Yesterday in Santa Cruz many records were broken, the stadium, the first, with 17,500 people eager to see Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar. A figure that is the best in the history of the traditional act in the capital’s venue. The parade, which resumed its tour of the city center, also exceeded the pre-pandemic figures, with nearly 100,000 people in the streets, according to data from the Santa Cruz City Council.
The fever to see the Kings overflowed the capital and reached the neighboring municipality of La Laguna, where some 25,000 people joined to witness live the return of the parade to the streets of the town. Some Kings who wanted to make at least a short camel ride, from the Town Hall to the Plaza del Cristo, which delighted the little ones. In El Rosario, in addition to the massive parade, the City Council saw fit to distribute more than 1,500 glasses of chocolate to combat the cold in Esperanza.
In the North, La Orotava and Puerto de la Cruz also offered real parades with thousands of people, municipalities that this year incorporated silent spaces for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. In the other towns in the North of Tenerife, the royal walks, horseback riding and a multitude of events with the Kings as protagonists also brought together a large audience, eager to feel the normality of the party that overflows with the most enthusiasm.
In the south of the Island, the expectation was no less. candlemaswhich recovered the Night of Dreams, brought together 20,000 people around the different activities organized by the City Council, and which concluded with the great parade.
In Adeje, some 4,000 people came to the municipal stadium to receive Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar, who arrived by helicopter, and to whom the mayor, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, handed over the magic key that opened all the town’s doors.
In the neighboring municipality of Arona, the Three Wise Men wanted to remember the elders by visiting the residence of Los Cristianos, before beginning their journey through the streets of the town of Aronero, which, as in the rest of the Island, brought together thousands of people.
