The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Town Hallthrough its Citizen Security area, has opened a file of information reserved for an official of the body of the Local police of the capital regarding the processing of overtime and, in addition, for the alleged use of public resources in police facilities in an improper manner.

The official has resigned from his current assignment while the investigation of said file is being carried out, which will determine if the facts on which it is investigated are true and in order to settle, where appropriate, the appropriate disciplinary responsibility. This is how the capital City Council announced yesterday the opening of this file, which, according to the PSOE of Santa Cruz, includes the same facts that it denounced in the last plenary session of the City Council, held on December 23, the date on which it requested the appearance of the Councilor for Security, Evelyn Alonso, to explain how overtime was accounted for, who authorized it and the way in which the agents communicated the completion of those overtime.

At that time, the former mayor Patricia Hernández denounced that up to 20,000 euros in overtime had been signed by the same person who did it, warning that they could be committing a crime of bribery or embezzlement. In addition, this person also signed those of the bodyguards, with the addition that these agents assigned to the authorities’ protection service communicated their overtime by telephone, without prior verification, the PSOE pointed out. The Socialists recalled that during 2022 up to 356,000 euros were paid in overtime for the escorts who accompany the mayor and the mayor of Security.

As a consequence of the open file, the headquarters of the Local Police has issued a service order to which DIARIO DE AVISOS has had access and in which it can be read that, “in the absence of a command responsible for the police officers of the Guides unit Canines and protection of authorities, the agents that are members of the canine guide service must call the command responsible for the operational service group at the beginning of their day and make themselves available to them.

Regarding the protection of authorities, “agents must communicate daily which agent is on duty, at the beginning and communicate the withdrawal.” It adds that, “as regards the extraordinary services that must be carried out, they must be included in the corresponding lists of the command responsible for the service that day. In the case of extraordinary services exclusive to said services, they will be processed by the person in charge of the administrative unit who will manage them with the deputy commissioner responsible for Citizen Security”.

no escort

In the December plenary session, the Councilor for Security, Evelyn Alonso, announced that she no longer had an escort. “I no longer have that service. In the same way that it was decided that it should take it, it has been decided that it no longer does so, “concluded the mayor in her intervention. Alonso enjoyed the escort service since her arrival at the City Council after the motion of censure.
