SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 4 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the delegated area of External Action, has renewed its collaboration agreement with the Coordinadora de NGO de Desarrollo de Canarias (CONGDCA) to promote information, dissemination and awareness-raising actions and campaigns in matters of development cooperation.
The CEO of the area, Liskel Álvarez, indicated that the work that they have been carrying out in recent years with the Coordinator, which has more than 25 years of experience in the sector, is continuing to promote awareness-raising and development education activities.
Liskel Álvarez added that it is an awareness-raising effort aimed at both the general population, to provide citizens with access to information on this subject, and the specific sectors of the institutions, entities and social groups that work in this field, to disseminate the work they do and create meeting spaces to work in a coordinated manner for sustainable development, for a more just and supportive society.
“It is essential to strengthen the associative fabric linked to international cooperation and education for development”, pointed out the CEO, who emphasized “the importance of these informative actions, to raise awareness among the population and show the work of the organizations and its contribution to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the 2030 agenda”.
“Through this line of collaboration, information and advice is also provided to NGDOs in their development cooperation projects, with the intention of accompanying and helping them during the process of submitting applications for calls for subsidies in the insular and regional framework” , pointed out Álvarez, who added that the Canary Islands ONGD Coordinator has reopened its office this year, with the support of the Cabildo, to bring these services closer to the organizations and the different agents that work in this field.
The edition of a guide has also been promoted in which the entities that make up the map of organizations on the island are collected, it is updated periodically with the aim of serving as a work and information tool for the administrations and associated NGDOs .
The CEO also highlighted the adherence of the Cabildo de Tenerife, in October this year, to the manifesto proposed by the Zero Poverty Platform, of which CONGDCA is an active member, from which work is carried out under the slogan Zero Poverty, Poverty Zero, to improve the quality of life of people in vulnerable situations.
Liskel Álvarez highlighted that information and advisory services will be provided through the Coordinator, as well as activities to disseminate information and generate spaces for participation that involve professionals from associations, foundations, public institutions, the educational and business sectors, among other agents committed to development actions in vulnerable countries and territories.
