The Three Kings Parade in TenerifeIt will make the Island overflow with illusion today. After three years in which Their Majesties have not been able to enjoy the closeness of the little ones as they wanted, this year, finally, the time has come to return to the traditional receptions and parades.
A tradition that also incorporates new sensibilities, such as the spaces with low noise impact that many municipalities have added to the parades so that children belonging to the autism spectrum can enjoy themselves without suffering from the volume of noise that accompanies these acts.
Santa Cruz of Tenerife is a pioneer in this type of initiative, since it has been incorporating silent spaces for years. This year it will be placed next to the parade through the García Sanabria park, in the stretch between Numancia and El Pilar streets. Likewise, there will be an accessible space for people with disabilities, specifically, in what is known as the Orche area. Other municipalities such as El Sauzal, La Orotava or Puerto de la Cruz have also announced that this year they will have these silent points in their royal parades.
The Santa Cruz horseback riding It will begin at seven in the evening, after Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar arrive at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium aboard a helicopter, at 5:00 p.m. There, a show with more than 700 extras will welcome them, to then collect the last letters from the children in attendance, and, of course, the magic key to the city, from the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, with which they will open all doors.
The Parade will have 12 floats, two of them with live music, along with more than a thousand characters and extras that will form part of a multicolored route that will begin on Avenida de Belgica. During it, the pages of the three Wise Men will distribute by hand a total of 2,500 kilos of gluten-free candies and, of these, in addition, 500 kilos will not contain sugar.
The development of the Parade will imply making traffic cuts in its path. The first will be the Avenida de Bélgica confluence with Comodoro Rolín, for the beginning of the infrastructure installation work and placement of floats in the parade start area. Everything from three in the afternoon. Security will also be an important point with a special device of the National Police, which will be established from nine in the morning to six in the evening.
The lagoon
In The lagoonTheir Majesties of the East anticipate their arrival at 11 in the morning, where the mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, will receive them in the Plenary Hall, the same place where the children can deliver their letters by hand. At 4:00 p.m. they will begin their royal parade, with their camels, through Nava and Grimón streets, to the Plaza del Cristo. After the act of adoration of the Magi, the Parade will begin at six in the afternoon.
Fanfares, batucadas and bugle and drum bands, characters from the world of children’s stories and movies, as well as superheroes will accompany the Three Wise Men. The City Council recovers after several years the participation of the Post Office staff, in charge of collecting and delivering the letters, who participate in the parade together with volunteer firefighters and the local Police.
In El Rosario, the Kings will also make an appearance, leaving the convertible cars of the pandemic parked, to resume their floats. It will be from 4:00 p.m., and in addition to Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar, you will be able to see flocks of sheep, the Mundo Mini Classic vehicles and the Vespas Club of Tenerife.
North
Already in the north of the Island, municipalities such as El Sauzal join the initiative of silent spaces, but also for people with disabilities. The latter will be installed on Avenida Inmaculada Concepción (CADF sidewalk), while the quiet zone is on Ronda Sauzalito street (first section between Carretera Vecinal and Las Palmeras avenue). It will be enabled for people with functional diversity and those who suffer from autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The great parade will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will go through all the neighborhoods.
In Puerto de la Cruz, children with ASD will also have a specific space located on Avenida Familia Bethencourt y Molina, where, on a duly signposted 190-meter journey, the procession will circulate without noise. In addition, the City Council has arranged a parking area on the same avenue so that families who want to enjoy the passage of the Three Wise Men can easily access it, which will have to collect a special authorization from the City Council itself. Likewise, on the stage of the upper esplanade of the Martiánez Shopping Center there will be an area for people with reduced mobility.
In La Orotava, this space without noise will be located in the first section of Mercedes Pinto avenue, from where the great parade will depart at 8:00 p.m., while outside the La Milagrosa school there will be an area adapted for people with mobility reduced. The emperors of the East, together with their entourage of more than 500 people, large and small, will star in a spectacular parade, full of surprises.
In Los Realejos, Their Majesties will begin the traditional parade at 7:00 p.m., which will begin after Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar have toured the town’s neighborhoods by car. The camels of the Kings will participate in the parade, but, for the first time, they will accompany them in their floats, not carrying Their Majesties from the East.
In San Juan de la Rambla there will be three receptions for Their Majesties, simultaneously: in San Juan, San José, and La Rambla. It will be in San Juan where the traditional Parade will be held, through the streets of the town.
They will arrive in La Guancha at one in the afternoon, where, for the first time, a royal caravan will take place that will bring the Three Wise Men to the squares of the different neighborhoods so that the children can greet them up close. In the afternoon, at 6:00 p.m., the traditional parade will begin.
South
In the south of Tenerife, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar will also make an appearance, as in Adeje, where they will arrive by helicopter at the Municipal Soccer Field at five in the afternoon. It will be at 7:00 p.m. when the great Parade begins.
In Arona, the Kings arrive at twelve noon, to make the traditional offering to the Child Jesus in the Church of San Antonio, and at 6:30 p.m. the Parade will begin in Los Cristianos, from Avenida de Suecia to Plaza del Pescador with the delivery of letters from children to the Kings.
In Candelaria La Noche de los Sueños returns, with five spaces in the town center, with various activities, to which will be added a real tour of the midlands and the royal reception at the City Hall.
