SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 4 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The City Council of Santa Cruz de La Palma, through the Department of Culture and Education, has presented today, Wednesday, the second edition of the cycle of oral narration ‘La Palabra Contada’, which will once again tour the streets of the capital of La Palma this year.
The mayor of Santa Cruz de La Palma, Juan José Neris, stressed that having a second edition of this initiative that highlights the value of communication, word and oral tradition “is a reflection of its good acceptance and that it aspires to consolidate over time.”
The first edition of ‘La Palabra Contada’ began in January 2022 with a stable and monthly program that has toured the different neighborhoods, libraries and places of Santa Cruz de La Palma, with proposals for all audiences and ages.
The Councilor for Culture, Melissa Hernández, pointed out that this second edition arrives “with new spaces, storytellers and professional storytellers from the Archipelago to tell stories and transmit dreams and stories in the ways of yesteryear, from ear to ear, giving value to oral tradition of the Islands and the talent of our artists”.
Melissa Hernández highlighted the specific offer for families and babies, in addition to the loyalty of the public throughout the entire cycle. In addition, among the novelties, the celebration of a session for the senior public in the month of July entitled ‘Our old tales’, which will be offered by the Taller de Juglares group, stands out.
PROGRAM 2023
The narrator and coordinator of this cycle, Omaira Morales, repeats as a participant in this second cycle of oral narration of ‘La Palabra Contada’, which will start on Saturday, January 21 with a session for babies by Silvia Torrente and Óscar Tiraida with the show ‘Unidrinking’.
Morales has valued the quality of the cast of professionals who will offer their voices and their stories in the new programming, which includes figures such as Héctor Ruiz, Paco del Pino, Miguel Ángel Granados, Laura Expósito, Fabio González, Oliver Escobar, María Buenadicha, Gemage and Vicky Dos Santos with the collaboration of Aarón Márquez.
The inclement weather forced the last session of the first cycle of La Palabra Contada to be postponed and this Wednesday, January 4, it resumes to offer it in the atrium of the Santa Cruz de La Palma City Hall starting at 6:00 p.m. with the figure of Antonio smoker.
This narrator will say goodbye to the first edition with stories that connect with the public as part of the celebration of the Christmas holidays and the prelude to one of the most magical days of the year.
