SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 4 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Agents of the Civil Guard belonging to the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Command have intervened 29 kilos of avocados that were for sale irregularly in a commercial establishment located in the municipality of El Sauzal .
The actions of the Civil Guard have been carried out within the framework of the ‘Plan against thefts in agricultural and livestock farms’, in which it continues to carry out random inspections in different commercial establishments in the province with the aim of continuing to carry out all those functions preventive measures to avoid the theft of fruits or vegetables in agricultural and livestock farms.
During the inspection recently carried out at a fruit and vegetable sales point located in the town of El Sauzal, Seprona agents have seized 29 kilos of avocados of alleged illegal origin, since the owner of the establishment lacked the corresponding documentation to prove the legal origin of the products offered to the consumer.
In accordance with the aforementioned facts, the agents notified the owner of various reports of complaints for violations of Law 6/2019, of April 9, on Agri-Food Quality established in articles 50 and 51 as minor and serious violations as the fruit was not intervened in the corresponding labeling, as well as the documentation that would guarantee the traceability of the product being marketed and that protects the health of consumers (sanitary controls).
Article 54.1 of the aforementioned law establishes the following sanctions with respect to the previously mentioned infractions: “Minor infractions will be sanctioned with a warning or a fine of up to 4,000 euros, serious infractions will be sanctioned with a fine between 4,001 and 150,000 euros, and Very serious infringements will be penalized with a fine between 150,001 and 3,000,000 euros.
In cases of non-compliance with the financial obligations intended to finance the management body, the financial amount of the fines established in the preceding paragraph of this paragraph will increase up to the value of 30 percent of the amount subject to non-payment.
