The buses of Titsa have registered 12,768 recharges of free passes during the first two days of the entry into force of the maximum discount on public transport on the Island. In total, this means that the number of passes sold is nine times greater than that recorded on the same days of 2022, according to the Cabildo de Tenerifewhich is managed by the public company Titsa.
The insular Minister of Mobility, Enrique Arriaga, explains that “with the return of the students to the classroom, next week, sales will increase considerably again”, and adds that «the start of the bonus has coincided with a holiday in which people do not use public transport regularly; For this reason we have preferred to combine data from the first two days.
Arriaga details in a note that “the resident season ticket has been the most demanded, with 6,569 recharges, followed by the youth season ticket, with 4,099 recharges; the senior monthly pass, with 992, and the monthly pass for people with disabilities, with 332”. For his part, the insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León, emphasizes that “the gratuity is designed to favor frequent users of transport, for which reason it will reward nominal tickets.” This means that the stipulated number of trips must be met to be considered a frequent user, set at 15.
