SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 2 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –
A 26-year-old girl and a man have been slightly injured after being swept away by a wave in the vicinity of the Isla Cangrejo natural pool, in the municipality of Santiago del Teide, in Tenerife, as reported by the Emergency Coordination Center and Security (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
The event occurred minutes before 11:30 a.m., when the 1-1-2 operating room received an alert stating that two people were in trouble at sea after being swept away by a wave in the area mentioned above. Therefore, Cecoes immediately activated the necessary emergency resources.
Thus, the device was made up of members of the Tenerife Fire Consortium, a rescue helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) of the Government of the Canary Islands, a sanitary ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), the Local Police of Santiago del Teide, Maritime Rescue and Civil Guard.
Other people who were in the place jumped into the water and helped those affected to reach an area of rocks. The firefighters, with the collaboration of the Local Police, rescued one of those affected and evacuated him on a nest stretcher to the place where the health resources were.
Rescuers from the GES helicopter got off the aircraft, accessed the second person affected, a woman, proceeded to rescue her and hoisted her onto the device to transfer her to a safe area. Once on land, SUC personnel assessed and assisted the two affected, who were transferred by sanitary ambulance to the Playa Santiago Health Center, presenting minor lacerations.
The police services activated by the Coordination Center collaborated with the rest of the emergency resources and made the appropriate reports. Maritime Rescue intervened in the rescue device deployed in the area.
