Last December, the Cabildo de La Gomera closed the application period for study grants and transportation aid for university students, Baccalaureate students and Vocational Training students who are studying outside the Island, in addition to those taking part in Erasmus programs, according to informed the president of the insular Institution, Casimiro Curbelo, who explained that 722 applications have been received and are already in the process of being processed.
Casimiro Curbelo recalled that the initial item destined for this purpose exceeds, for the first time, one million euros to attend to all the modalities that are covered in this new call. “We are continuing our efforts to reinforce aid, directly, to the economy of students and their families, since these amounts are complementary to scholarships from other administrations,” he stressed.
For her part, the insular Minister of Education, Rosa Elena García, pointed out that the application processing phase is already underway, as well as the procedure for requesting the necessary documentation. “For this reason, we call on the Gomeran students to remain attentive to the notification channels that they have provided in their application, in order to expedite the process,” she added.
In this call, applicants will have an additional allowance of 300 euros equivalent to the monthly cost of the transport voucher. In such a way that not only those who are trained in Tenerife and Gran Canaria can benefit from the measure, but also those who are trained in other parts of the country or the European Union.
Regarding the modalities of study, students up to 30 years of age who are trained in university centers outside the Canary Islands, in person, will receive 1,400 euros, in addition to 300 euros for transport, which makes a total of 1,700 euros. In the case of face-to-face university studies on the islands, the amount will be 1,200 euros, which added to the transport aid, reaches 1,500 euros.
The face-to-face studies of Baccalaureate and Vocational Training that are taken outside of La Gomera because they are not taught on the island have a consignment of 700 euros per student, in addition to transport aid, which represents 1,000 euros. Meanwhile, those who do it in La Gomera and are not covered by the transfer service to the school residence, will have 400 euros. Finally, non-face-to-face university studies, Baccalaureate or Vocational Training, have a consignment of 500 euros.
In the case of Erasmus and global mobility, the Cabildo grants a monthly allowance of 200 euros, up to a maximum of 1,800 euros, which varies according to the duration of the program chosen by each student. For students participating in the Sicue program, the monthly deposit is 150 euros per month, up to a maximum of 1,350 euros.
