The Animalist Party PACMA managed to collect some 18,000 signatures by hand last November to request the regulation of fireworks in the municipality of Santa Cruz of Tenerife. The initiative seeks a more respectful celebration of the holidays with animals, people and the environment.
Pending an upcoming meeting with the capital’s City Council to address the popular request, it previously announced a low sound impact fireworks show to receive the New Year.
The fireworks display would last around 15 minutes and would be launched from around the Plaza de España, just at the end of the twelve bells that will start the year 2023.
The PACMA coordinator in the provinceCristo Gil, was transferred last night to the aforementioned Santa Cruz environment to verify, first hand, the new commitment of the Consistory.
“Luckily we are here to dismantle these people,” said the man from Tenerife in a video shared on social networks that includes about three minutes of fireworks traditional. “They are not ashamed,” concluded the animalist in a recording that already exceeds 5,000 views.
The animal supporters continue to wait for the reception of the mayor of Santa Cruz to initiate measures that help solve the situation that worries so many Tenerife residents and hope that, “with time and by example, all the municipalities of the islands will begin to address the problem”.
