In the Archipelago, the choice of television channel to start the year with tonight is limited to the broadcasts of Televisión Española, Televisión Canaria and Mírame Televisión. On this occasion, only Mírame TV will broadcast the change of the year (for the seventh time in a row) from a municipality in Tenerife, Santiago del Teide.
The television directed by Manuel Artiles will begin its New Year’s Eve special at 9:30 p.m. from Los Gigantes simultaneously with La Gomera. It will be led by Iván Bonales and Selene Melián, who will toast with Emilio Navarro, mayor of Santiago, for the arrival of 2023 with all the households of the Islands.
To say goodbye to 2022 and welcome the new year, Radio Televisión Canaria proposes a special New Year gala with numerous performances, which will take place between Tenerife and Lanzarote.

The New Year’s Eve chimes will be broadcast from San Bartolomé (Lanzarote), and will be presented by Eloisa GonzalezAlicia Suárez, Paco Luis Quintana and Daniel Calero.
As in previous years, the year-end programming will consist of two parts, one before the chimes, with performances by Manolo Vieira, Los Sabandeños and Darío López, and a second part during the first hours of the new year 2023.
At 10:15 p.m., Televisión Canaria will broadcast Gracias, maestro, a program in which comedians from the Islands pay homage to Manolo Vieira in a space that will precede his last New Year’s Eve television special (10:20-11:30 p.m.). In this show, the comedian from La Isleta will rescue several classic stories that have accompanied him in 42 years on stage.
After the 12 grapes, the special gala of Televisión Canaria will combine musical and humorous performances. This is a variety special that will combine well-known and new artists, with live performances and following the idea of combining local talent with guest artists from other latitudes. Groups and artists such as Pedro Guerra, El Vega, Julia Nar, Alma de bolero, Playa Coco, Efecto Pasillo, Blas Cantó and E’FEMME will participate. Among the comedians from the Canary Islands, Dani Calero, Petit Lorena and Darío López will take part in the gala, who will alternate their performances throughout the night, at least until ten to three in the morning.

RTVE chooses Gáldar (Gran Canaria) as the location to welcome 2023. The clock of the main temple of Santiago will reach thousands of canaries in one of the most watched times of the year. The event will be presented by Roberto Herrera and the artist Nía Correia. It will be the third time in history that Gáldar hosts this broadcast: the previous ones were to welcome the year 1989 and 2002.
The duo formed by the singer Nia (Estefanía Correia) and the presenter Roberto Herrera, will be in charge of presenting the special program from the municipality of Galdense. The broadcast will be carried out through La 1, TVE Internacional and the RTVE Play web platform.
