The connection of the pumping station of San Blas, on the coast of Candelaria, with the regional treatment plant built in Arafo is delayed due to the modification of the project imposed by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands. The measure represents a delay that the mayoress of Candelaria, Mari Brito, hopes will be overcome shortly “so that the work can be tendered in 2023.”
This infrastructure, essential to solve the problem of wastewater treatment in the most populated area of the Güímar Valley -the coastal strip between Las Caletillas and the Basilica-, has had a project since May 2021, drawn up by the Island Water Council Tenerife (Ciatf), and the regional Executive contemplated almost seven million euros to finance its execution in the Budget for the current year. Amount that increases due to the price update and the improvements that are being introduced.
The mayoress exposed it yesterday before the Plenary in response to the interest shown by the spokesperson for Canarian Coalition (DC), Angela Cruz. Brito stressed the relevance of this action and that the municipal government “is insistent” when demanding speed in completing the modification of the project, limited to “a technical aspect” and the layout. Previously, Candelaria also demands the declaration of interest to complete the process of expropriation of the land necessary for the work, currently pending a property located in the vicinity of the pumping station.
The Plenary extends to five years the bonus for solar panel installations
The Urban Wastewater Treatment Plant (Edaru) built in Lomo del Caballo, with a final investment estimated at 13 million euros, remains in disuse because it needs to receive a minimum of 1,750 cubic meters to be put into operation. It is sized to treat 3,000 cubic meters of sewage per day “in a first phase”.
last plenary session
The Villa Mariana City Council held the last ordinary plenary session of 2022, in which the auditor reported on the audit of the 2020 general account, carried out by the Hearing of Accounts of Canary Islandswithout the political groups raising discrepancies.
In the session, the Corporation definitively approved the modification of the Real Estate Ordinance (IBI), after dismissing the two allegations presented on the understanding that one is included and the other is merely informative. In this way, the bonuses for the electrical use of solar installations are extended to 30% to five years, for which the local government anticipates that the number of beneficiaries will increase considerably. The change in the ordinance adds a 30% discount for the installation of electric charging points in buildings for residential use.
