‘Tenerife Licita’, a business internationalization program promoted jointly by the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Cabildo de Tenerife concludes 2022 with a historical record, exceeding the number of companies that apply to the tender by 157% compared to the previous year. tenders with a total of 46.
The platform has celebrated several historical milestones this year, such as its approval as a United Nations Trade Promotion Organization (PSLO) or the trade mission to the United Nations headquarters in New York within the framework of the European Procurement Forum (EUPF), allowing the companies attending will learn first-hand and in advance of the business opportunities that the agency will bring from each sector, in addition to holding face-to-face meetings with the UN’s own purchasing officials.
Likewise, precisely to promote the commercial operations of Tenerife companies with the United Nations, a new edition of the training program to access the UN market was also held from ‘Tenerife Licita’, explaining to the attending companies how to generate business with this international organization .
From the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the president of the Foreign Trade Commission, Arturo Escuder, highlights the work carried out by the program, “which has not only broken the historical record of the program in participation in international tenders, but we have also deployed a wide network of services to promote the internationalization of companies in Tenerife, such as training actions or trade missions”.
It is this line, he assures in a note that they are “aware of the” enormous opportunities offered by the multilateral market” and their mission is “to serve as a link between it and the business fabric of the island, as was made clear in the organization of the seventh Meeting of Spanish Tendering Companies”.
From the Cabildo de Tenerife, the CEO of Foreign Action, Liskel Álvarez, highlighted that “this 2022 has undoubtedly been a year of success for the program, which has become a national benchmark in the international tender market, also celebrating its approval as a United Nations Trade Promotion Organization”.
TRICONTINENTAL RELATIONS
In his opinion, “Tenerife Licita has also organized the seventh Meeting of Spanish Tendering Companies, an event that served to consolidate the island of Tenerife as a key stage in terms of international tenders, highlighting its role as a common link in tricontinental relations, becoming a strategic partner that unites Europe, Africa and Latin America”.
The CEO also highlighted “the drive that is being carried out in collaboration with the chamber institution to promote the internationalization of companies, promote their opening to new markets abroad and contribute to their economic growth and job creation”.
The Meeting of Spanish Tendering Companies was held on October 18 and 19 in the south of Tenerife with more than 180 people registered from a total of 70 different companies, who had the opportunity to hold a total of 224 direct meetings with both the 39 speakers of the different round tables as well as other companies attending the meeting.
As the finishing touch to this successful year, ‘Tenerife Licita’ received two procurement officials from the UN World Food Program (WPF), who came to the island on a prospecting mission to purchase 1,000 tons of gofio, a food that they consider key to fighting famine in Africa, and who were given contact with companies to promote this business opportunity.
