The PP spokesman in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, Carlos Tarife, will be the candidate for Mayor in the municipal elections on May 28, as announced this Thursday at a press conference, the regional president of the PP, Manuel Domínguez .
Tarife thanked Manuel Domínguez and Emilio Navarro for the trust and support shown to lead the PP’s candidacy for the capital of Tenerife, assuring that he will continue to focus on what is most important, “work, work and work and excite the chicharreros, far from controversy and the management of inertia”.
Tarife commented that “the city as a whole, with its 80 neighborhoods, needs a new impetus”, and highlighted the need to stimulate the promotion of public and private housing.
“In the next four years we must reach the horizon that people can return to live in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, a city that has to grow and be the ideal place for couples to develop their life projects. We cannot maintain the same population figures as in the last 10 years,” he said.
In the field of social action, the popular candidate pointed out that a good part of his objectives will focus on policies aimed at the elderly and vulnerable people, “for which it will be necessary to involve the rest of the public administrations”.
On the other hand, Carlos Tarife insisted that Santa Cruz de Tenerife “cannot continue living with its back to the sea.”
In this regard, he pointed out that they have defined projects to recover the coast of the capital through actions such as urbanizing Las Teresitas and taking control of the Los Llanos Dock, from the space between the Auditorio de Tenerife and the Muelle de La Hondura, as well as the coast of Añaza.
“To value nightlife, compatible with citizen coexistence, so that our young people have the possibility of enjoying the various alternatives that our city offers, without having to travel to the north or south of the island,” he said. , is another of the bets announced by Tarife, who also considered the “defense” of Carnival essential, “the largest industry that Santa Cruz de Tenerife has.”
To this end, he proposes the creation of a thematic museum and the improvement of the facilities where the various groups in the La Salud neighborhood rehearse and perform.
Domínguez commented during his speech that Tarife has shown in recent years “his capacity for work and commitment to Santa Cruz de Tenerife”. “He is, without any doubt, the best candidate to represent the PP and work for the residents of the city,” he said.
Along these lines, he pointed out that they were “clear” in the party that he was their candidate and recalled that “it is true that there have been many pools and that they have wanted to advance the planning” but now the time has come to make the presentation officially.
A CANDIDATE “FROM THE QUARRY”, SAYS DOMÍNGUEZ
“He is a man who comes from the quarry, who knows the game from within, has been a member for many years, who feels the colors and who has worked with enthusiasm, hope and full dedication for Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the different areas in which he He has had responsibilities, both in the opposition and in government tasks,” he asserted.
Manuel Domínguez indicated that the “luck” of Tarife in the next municipal elections “will also be the luck of the Popular Party and that of the inhabitants of the capital of Tenerife, who have a candidate who guarantees a great project, a sure bet for the present and the future, for the development of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the well-being of the citizenry”.
For his part, the insular president of the PP, Emilio Navarro, also highlighted the work carried out by Tarife in recent years from the Urban Planning and Public Works departments of the capital’s City Council.
“It has promoted the economic revitalization that the City so badly needed and has made important investments a reality that have allowed the execution of actions related to essential basic services and the improvement and rehabilitation of public spaces,” he said.
