The Canary Islands register heavy rains and 575 lightning strikes during the early morning

The Dana that is affecting the Canary Islands has come accompanied by abundant electrical appliance that has left a total of 575 rays between 02:00 and 08:00, according to data from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

Of the total number of lightning strikes registered, more than half (336) occurred between 06:00 and 07:00 in a strip that crosses the Archipelago from west to east. Lightning has struck mainly on the island of Tenerife and in the sea, to the north of the Islands.

The storm has also been accompanied by rain. so, in Cross port 62.2 liters per square meter have been registered; in hermigua, 32.8 liters; in Beautiful valley, 32 liters; in sharp31.8 liters, and in Guimar31.6 liters per square meter.

In Acentejo’s Victory 29.4 liters of rain per square meter have been recorded; in it Tenerife South Airport, 25.6; in The Canadas of Teide, 25; in Santa Cruz of Tenerife22.6, and Arure21.2 liters per square meter.

The strong wind is also being felt in some parts of the Archipelago, especially in Izanawhere gusts of 79 km/h have been reached, as well as in Beautiful valley (74km/h), Canadas del Teide(68 km/h) and Arico (62km/h).

The Weather forecast by islands is the following:

Slightly cloudy or clear, with intervals of high clouds in the afternoon. Calima that will increase during the second half of the day, when visibility may drop below 3000 meters occasionally. Little changed temperatures. Moderate to strong southeast wind, with probable very strong gusts that will be more frequent and intense at the end of the day.

FORECAST MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C): Arrecife 15 25

Slightly cloudy or clear, with intervals of high clouds in the afternoon. Calima that will increase from noon, when visibility can drop below 2000 meters. Little changed temperatures. Moderate southeast wind that will intensify throughout the day, with probable very strong gusts at the end.

FORECAST MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C): Puerto del Rosario 15 24

Cloudy intervals tending to cloudy in central hours, when occasional rains will be likely, mainly on the west slope, tending to slightly cloudy or clear with intervals of highs and an increase in the presence of haze that may lower visibility below 2000 meters at last hours. Minimum temperatures without changes or in slight decrease on the coasts, and maximum temperatures in decrease, especially in the midlands and high areas of the northeast. Light to moderate south wind, except in the north and west during the central hours when it will be moderate from the north, turning to the east component in the afternoon. By the end of the day, locally very strong gusts will be likely in the high western midlands and highlands.

FORECAST MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C): Palmas de Gran Canaria, 15 22

TENERIFE

Cloudy or cloudy skies with precipitation that will be more likely and persistent during the first half of the day. They are likely to be strong and accompanied by occasional thunderstorms. They will be in the form of snow above 2000 meters and will subside in the afternoon. At the end of the day it is likely that there will be a haze. Minimum temperatures with few changes and maximums in moderate decrease, being notable in high areas. Variable light wind at the beginning, increasing to moderate in central hours, and turning to the eastern component at the end of the day. In central summits, strong or very strong south wind with gusts that may exceed 100 km/h. In the afternoon, very strong gusts of up to 80 km/h will extend to the upper midlands of the entire northern slope, to the dorsal and to the extreme northwest.

LA GOMERA

Cloudy or cloudy skies with precipitation that will be more likely and persistent during the first half of the day. It is likely that they will be strong and will be accompanied by occasional storms, and will subside in the last hours. The presence of haze at the end is not ruled out. Minimum temperatures with little change or in slight decrease, maximum in decrease. Light wind from the north, during the morning it will tend to the southeast and it will intensify in the afternoon, when very strong gusts of up to 80km/h are likely in the peaks and midlands of the north and west.

FORECAST MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C): San Sebastián de la Gomera 14 21

THE PALM

Predominance of cloudy or covered skies with clear openings during the central hours. Rainfall that may be strong and be accompanied by occasional storms, being more likely and frequent in the early hours and in the afternoon. They will be in the form of snow above 1800 meters and will subside in the last hours. The presence of haze at the end is not ruled out. Minimum temperatures without changes or in slight decrease, maximum in decrease. Light wind from the north tending to the east component in the afternoon. It will intensify in the afternoon and it will blow hard with probable very strong gusts on the summits and northwest and northeast slopes, especially at the end.

FORECAST MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C): Santa Cruz de la Palma 13 18

THE IRON

Predominance of cloudy or covered skies with clear openings during the central hours. Rainfall that may be strong and be accompanied by occasional storms, being more likely and frequent in the early hours and in the afternoon. The presence of haze at the end is not ruled out. Minimum temperatures in slight decrease and maximum in descent. Light to moderate northeast wind, it will tend to southeast in the afternoon and it will intensify. Probable very strong gusts of up to 80 km/h in peaks, on the northeast slope and in the area of ​​El Golfo in the last hours.

FORECAST MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C): Valverde 12 15
