The Faina and Tara nursery schools, for children from 0 to 3 years old, are the only municipal schools in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, an essential service for many families, and which, according to the Municipal Institute of Social Care ( IMAS), the area on which its management depends, will be improved with the new tender, whose specifications have already been drawn up. And it is that at the end of this course, the current management contract will end, hence the process has already begun to tender again both nursery schools, which offer 70 places each. According to the City Council, the total amount of the contest will be about 5.8 million euros for three years, extendable for another two.
Thus, among the improvements introduced, according to the Councilor for Social Action, Rosario González, advanced during the last municipal plenary session, the introduction of learning English, psychomotor activities or the increase in personnel stands out. In this last point, according to the specifications, in each center the number of direct educational attention professionals must be, at least, equal to the number of groups in simultaneous operation plus 5, that is; 10 direct educational care professionals for each of the Nursery Schools.
Direct educational attention to students in the first cycle of Early Childhood Education will be carried out by professionals who hold the title of teacher with a specialization in early childhood education or the equivalent degree title or the title of higher technician in early childhood education or equivalent.

As for the initiation project to English, this will be in charge of an early childhood educator who must be in possession of the specific qualification to teach the first Cycle of early childhood education, they will have to have accredited knowledge of English. The degree must correspond, at least, with the competences of level B1 of the aforementioned common reference framework.
In addition, the endowment of human resources of each center must be complemented with two positions of full-time general services personnel, and they must have other complementary personnel, to carry out support tasks or auxiliary and/or administrative personnel, or other support to attend the catering and kitchen service, support in entrances and exits, or administrative management, and must be different from that which carries out educational tasks.
