The Christmas comes alive when night falls in santacrucero Somosierra neighborhood. Flags, lights and even inflatable reindeer adorn the Tigaiga passagewhose neighbors decorate each year with care and high doses of illusion.

The initiative arose four years agoin a meeting held by the people who live in this small alley, which has about 80 houses that are distributed on both sides of a narrow central corridor.

Joseph, one of the neighbors, receives Diario de Avisos at the doors of his house, one of the most decorated in the passage. “This year I was into the inflatables,” he confesses, as he shows us the two huge reindeer that rest, illuminated, on his roof.

“We make a little cow”

“We have quite a big Christmas spirit; especially for the children, who came yesterday, saw the reindeer and loved it, ”she points out with a broad smile. On the other side, a neighbor gives him a complicit look and takes the opportunity to confirm that José lives it like no one else.

To decorate the whole street, everyone gathers and they make a little cow to buy the materials they need. When the order arrives -generally they do it through a well-known website-, they get down to work. Then, each one decorates his house as he wants. “It costs a lot, because you have to climb stairs, jump and drill until everything is as we want it to be”, he confesses.

Many residents wanted to miss the lighting, which took place two weeks ago after a month of work. That was a party. “He even came the divinea good party”, details José, who has been living there with her husband for about 20 years.

unrestricted christmas

This will be a Christmas without restrictions due to COVID-19. However, José confirms that he will continue to celebrate the dates indicated in his house, in the Tigaiga passage.

“Christmas Eve and Christmas we each celebrate at home, but on New Year’s Eve we take out tables, the speakers and we start dancing out here,” he explains. “Since this year there are no restrictions, we must celebrate it to the fullest, one hundred percent,” he says convinced.
