SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 23 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, received in the Noble Hall of the Palacio Insular a representation of the entities, companies, administrations and people who have been awarded the 2022 Solidarity Awards of the Tenerife Isla Solidaria program, which celebrates this year its 25th anniversary.
Pedro Martín conveyed the island’s gratitude to all those people and entities that carry out voluntary and supportive work, especially those that help vulnerable people and families and actions that have an impact on the community. “Through these awards we want to make visible the multiple ways of volunteering and recognize the important work that is carried out from different areas so that we have a better society.”
The president highlighted the work carried out by the Tenerife Isla Solidaria program, which has been helping to help on the island for 25 years. “The Cabildo has just approved the budgets for the next financial year, in which an item of 1.3 million euros will be allocated to Tenerife Isla Solidaria to continue promoting its services, campaigns and actions to help social entities and groups”, he added.
For his part, the CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta, who participated in the reception, emphasized the commitment of the people of Tenerife in the solidarity actions promoted on the island. “People who decide to lend a hand and lend their experience and time to help, selfless work, which usually goes unnoticed, which with this type of recognition we want to make visible and, above all, thank”.
These distinctions, which are now in their twenty-sixth edition, were awarded last Thursday during the celebration of the Gala for the 25th anniversary of the Tenerife Isla Solidaria program, dependent on Sinpromi. In total, 14 honorable mentions and 2 second prizes were awarded.
This edition, the jury has recognized the work carried out on the island by the Promemar association, for its underwater cleaning actions and awareness-raising in defense of the environment on the island; and the Kaua de Taco association, for its actions to promote responsible leisure and promotion of healthy habits among youth. The José Luis Montesinos Canary Islands Foundation was also distinguished for its care services for migrants.
The companies Caixabank and Mercadona received their award for their commitment and collaboration with volunteer organizations. As well as the CEO Betencourt Molina and Hispano Inglés educational centers, for their activities and awareness campaigns on diversity and respect, among other activities.
The Military Logistic Support Group No. 81, which collaborates with entities in the transfer of merchandise, was also distinguished. In the media category, the online radio program La Vida es Bella, which gives visibility to disability, and the digital journalism newspaper of the University of La Laguna received recognition.
The awards included a special recognition to the volunteers, and especially to the women, for their dedication and delivery in different solidarity actions. Juan Enrique Hernández, Dácil Molina, Soukeina Ndiaye and Fermina Gutiérrez have received these distinctions for their commitment to solidarity. The two second prizes that have been awarded in this edition went to Hilda Siverio and CEIP Camino Largo.
