The heart of Francisca Alayón Delgado, 103 years old, one of the longest-lived residents of the Island and the most beloved in Arona, stopped beating yesterday. Mother Susa, as she was known in the town, was the grandmother of the mayor José Julián Mena, whom she raised and with whom she maintained a great bond and a close relationship, as the councilor has acknowledged on several occasions, who yesterday was very affected .
Mother Susa, who was born on June 8, 1919 in the La Sabinita neighborhood, dedicated her entire life to raising her nine children (five girls and four boys), her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. From a family with ten siblings, she earned the love and appreciation of those who knew her, who define her as a “great person.” Her prodigious memory will help preserve customs in the municipality, as she participates, along with other elders, in the municipal project Atlas of Intangible Heritage.
Until her last days, she went to the local for the elderly to share the afternoons with her friends and continued solving the addition and subtraction that her daughters gave her homework to exercise her mind. The burial will take place today, at 12:00, in the Arona cemetery.
