SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has awarded the contract for the installation of new tourist signs in the municipalities of Isla Baja (Garachico, Los Silos, El Tanque and Buenavista del Norte). The works will have an execution period of eight months, will be carried out by the Girodservices company and will be fully financed by the Island Corporation.
The president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, has highlighted the collaboration of the municipalities of Isla Baja and explained that this action “is part of the Insular Plan for Intelligent Tourist Signage, which contemplates the renewal of the island’s tourist information signs to that have a homogeneous, modern, attractive design and integrated with the roads and the environment”.
In this sense, Pedro Martín assured that tourist signage is a priority element in the management of the tourist system of the municipalities, since it “provides tourists and visitors with clear guidance and information, contributing to boost the tourist and economic activity of the municipalities and improving our attractive as a destination”.
For her part, the insular director of Tourism, Laura Castro, explained that, for the implementation of this action, the insular Corporation carried out a prior diagnosis and inventory of the existing signage in each of the municipalities. In the same way, an analysis was carried out on its most suitable location, in order to guarantee the safety and comfort of drivers.
“The idea is that the entire island has a harmonized signage system so that Tenerife is consolidated as a brand of destination. The objective is that tourists and visitors can quickly and comfortably locate the goods of cultural, patrimonial and landscape interest that each municipality, which will contribute to optimize their time, improve their security and will motivate them to know the indicated points”, added Laura Castro.
The new signaling will therefore fulfill a cross-cutting function: to inform, guide and multiply the values of the territory. In addition, these informative physical supports will be adapted and prepared so that the municipalities can manage digital services through which they disseminate the tourist offer of their municipalities and the island.
The Island Plan for Intelligent Tourist Signaling is part of the Medi-Fdcan tourist product improvement program, aimed at adapting and renewing the tourist products of the destination, through the provision of infrastructures, equipment and services.
