The City Council of Candelaria has launched the Program of Employment Social 2022-2023, for which it has 887,799 euros, financing that will allow the hiring of 50 unemployed people. This initiative was launched on Monday and will run for a year. It started with basic training in occupational hazards and its execution will focus on carrying out municipal works and services of general and social interest, says the local government.
“One of our objectives is to improve the employability of the unemployed in the municipality.” It is the premise of the Mayor’s Office. “Hence, in recent years we have significantly increased the municipal contribution to this program”, which in this edition exceeds 500,000 euros “, according to the mayoress, Mari Brito. Within this framework, he recalls the local government’s commitment to employment, “proof of this is the approval of five Alternation Programs with Employment (PFAE), which will allow the hiring and training of another 100 people with an investment of 1,606,925 euros .
The mayoress, accompanied by several councilors from the government group, welcomed the fifty workers benefiting from the 2022-2023 Social Employment Program. These are personnel with the profile of foreman, carpenter, locksmith, painter, bricklayer, maintainer of sports facilities, public works laborer, street cleaning and building cleaning personnel, agricultural manager, sociocultural monitor, community animator, information technician tourist and administrative technician.
The project is subsidized by the Canary Islands Employment Service (SCE), with funds from the Comprehensive Employment Plan of Canary Islands (PIEC), with 338,146 euros, which represents 38% of the contracting costs, while the municipal contribution amounts to 549,651.78 euros, 62% of the total cost of the project.
The employment projects to be developed during the next year and the beginning of 2024 are: Candelaria Cuida, Cortinaje Candelaria, Candelaria Ambiental 2, Candelaria Gestiona 2 and Turismo Candelaria, five initiatives of the Consistory that demonstrate the City Council’s commitment to employment and improving qualifications professional citizen of the municipality. The beneficiaries will obtain professional certificates in each specialty, offering a professional qualification through the combination of training within the work experience offered by PFAEs to people without prior formal training, with ESO and with a Baccalaureate. In this way, it covers the qualification needs of different groups.
