The pretreatment represents a “very important leap”, in the opinion of the Minister of Sustainable Development and Fight against Climate Change, javier rodriguez Medina, because it will improve the “very basic” system that was used until now in an industrial and logistics zone that generates a considerable volume of water with a high level of contamination. After the commissioning of the first phase, construction work continues at the plant, which will culminate in July 2023.
The next thing will be the entry into service of a biological reactor to eliminate an even greater polluting load. The process contemplates the incorporation of bacteria so that they feed on said load and, artificially, it is aerated so that the growth process of the bacteria is accelerated, until they later die and are eliminated.
Rodríguez Medina, who recalled that the Insular Water Council has advised the owners of the polygon’s soil bags in the bidding process despite not being a work of this body, highlighted the “surgical” work so that, according to As the stages are completed, they start operating without having to wait for the completion of the complete installation next summer, at which time “excellence in discharge quality” will be achieved.
The works, budgeted at 5,636,413 euros (without IGIC) began in June 2021 and are being executed by the joint venture formed by Cadagua and Ferrovial Construcción under the optional direction of Civilport Ingenieros.
