José Julián Mena, mayor of Arona, will be re-elected tomorrow as general secretary of the PSOE in the municipality, a position he held until August 13, 2020, the date on which the party chose to create a manager, chaired by David Pérez, as a result of the open internal crisis in the municipal bosom of this political formation after the dismissal of Luis García as Councilor for Town Planning.

Now, the panorama has changed radically and the current mayor arrives reinforced at the Extraordinary Assembly, scheduled for 7:00 p.m. tomorrow, on first call, at the Casino de Arona, after the PSOE management bodies ratified him in September as candidate for mayor in the next municipal elections of 2023.

The deadline for the presentation of candidacies will end at 11:00 p.m. today. With the election of the management body of the Arona Socialist Association, the mandate of the management commission ends and the party recovers organic normality in the municipality. In addition to the appointment of the Municipal Executive Commission, the agenda also includes the election of representatives to the Island Committee.
