La Laguna wants to celebrate a Christmas in style this year and one of the many novelties of this edition will be the installation of a ice rink in the Plaza de la Navidad, which will be located in the Plaza del Cristo and will be inaugurated next Thursday.

A space that will also have Christmas wooden booths, children’s attractions, gastronomy and music, and live concerts, following the model of the markets of Central European cities and becoming a meeting point to enjoy these holidays with the family.

This is one of the initiatives that make up the program presented yesterday by the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, and the Councilor for Fiestas, Badel Albelo. “La Laguna has become the epicenter of Christmas in the Canary Islands,” said the councilor, who highlighted the return of the traditional parade of the Kings of Casco “with many surprises”, as well as the Royal Camp and the work that has been done so that “Christmas shines in neighborhoods and towns”.

There will be an ice rink in La Laguna: “It is the epicenter of Christmas in the Canary Islands”

Albelo recounted the program of activities, under the motto Go, go, go, Laguna Christmas, such as the Plaza de la Navidad in the Plaza del Cristo, starting this Thursday, the return of the Royal Camp in the park of La Constitución, that opens its doors tomorrow, or the activities of revitalization for children that will reach 35 neighborhoods of the municipality.

In addition, in the days prior to January 5, the Three Wise Men will visit six points in the districts and the great procession returns to Casco, with renewed floats and on its usual route, starting at 6:30 p.m. It also recovers, on the morning of that day, the reception of the mayor and the City Council to Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar in the Plenary Hall, as well as the act of adoration of the Child at 5:00 p.m. in the Plaza del Cristo.

Added to all this are the traditional Christmas rounds, with 32 folkloric groups, or the Christmas Craft Fair in the Plaza del Adelantado.

End of the year

Likewise, in the Plaza de La Concepción, music concerts and other commercial actions will continue, as well as hosting the New Year’s Eve party, with a gala that will feature performances by various orchestras.
