The Association for the recovery of the Masonic memory of the Canary Islands has transferred to the regional government his proposal to declare a place or monument of historical memory the Masonic Temple of Tenerifeproperty located on San Lucas street in the capital of Tenerife.
This is one of the issues addressed in a meeting held between the Minister of Public Administration, Justice and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands, Julio Pérez, and the directors of the aforementioned association Emilio Fresco, Eva Tobar, Carlos Berástegui, Víctor Berástegui and Jorge García Tight.
During the meeting, its president, Emilio Fresco, raised with Julio Pérez the existing interest in collaborating with all historical memory associations, with the aim of taking steps in the material execution of what is provided for in Law 5/2018, of 14 of December, of historical memory of the Canary Islands and of recognition and moral reparation of the Canarian victims of the civil war and the Franco dictatorship.
The counselor congratulated the directors for the constitution of the association and “took note” of their approaches, some of which are in tune with those that his department has been developing and others correspond to the Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports, informs the Government of the Canary Islands in a statement.
Julio Pérez has promised to keep you informed of the actions that his Ministry develops in terms of historical memory.
For his part, Emilio Fresco highlighted the need to draw up the Strategy for the Historical Memory of the Canary Islands, a “key” document on a biennial basis, which includes the objectives, priorities and financing that should govern actions related to the historical memory to be carried out by the public administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
The members of the board of directors of the Association for the recovery of the Masonic memory of the Canary Islands have also highlighted the importance of carrying out the Virtual Center of Historical Memory, with the purpose of collecting, recovering, studying, disseminating and facilitating access to the information contained in the documents of the historical memory of the Canary Islands.
As well as providing documentary and historical support and foundation to the actions, initiatives and strategies related to this matter launched by the Government of the Canary Islands, or by any public administration, entity dependent on it or private entities with social purposes similar to those of said Law.
