With nougat still dominating the supermarket shelves, the great Carnival family has its head set on January 20, the date on which the quintessential festival of Santa Cruz begins. Yesterday, in the auditorium of the Santa Cruz Fairgrounds, the first of the meetings took place in which almost all the groups met. The drawing of the order of participation in the different contests it is a tradition that almost no one wants to miss, especially when this Carnival, that of 2023, returns fully, without restrictions and with all the desire in the world.
The good atmosphere reigned in a raffle that, in the contest that arouses the most expectation, that of the adult murgas, Tiralenguas will be in charge of opening it on January 30, while Bambones will put an end to the phases on February 1.
Thus, together with Tiralenguas, and in this order, Zeta-Zetas, Trabachones, Diabólicas, Chinchosos, Burlonas and Desbocados will perform in the first phase. In the second, on January 31, the first to act will be the Diablos Locos, followed by Mamelucos, La Sonora, Klandestinas, Tras con Tras, Ni Pico-Ni Corto and Sofocadas. The last of the phases, on Wednesday, February 1, will be opened by Desatadas, followed by Marchilongas, Trapaseros, Ni Muchas Ni Pocas, Triqui Traques and Bambones.
As far as children’s murgas are concerned, Lenguas Largas will be the first to take the stage on January 26, at 7:00 p.m. He will do so in the first phase, in which he will be accompanied by El Cabito, Redoblones, Distraidos, Carricitos and Sofocados. On Friday, January 27, the second is celebrated with Triqui Traquitos, Beavers, Mamelones, Guachipanduzy, Frikywiky’s and Raviscuditos. The last phase, on Saturday 28, will be opened by Dissimulados, new to this edition, and will be followed by Chinchositos, Pita Pitos, Revoltosos, Rebeldes and Torciditos.
For its part, the Choreographic Festival will feature 17 groups and will be held on January 29. Crew of Dreams will open it and Loli Pérez will close it.
The Musical Groups will participate on February 4, with Siboney opening the contest and Chaxiraxi closing it.
The seven Senior Groups will perform on February 8, headed by the Tegueste Senior Citizens Association, and closing the Las Nieves rondalla. Likewise, the turn of the comparsas will be on February 11. The eight participants will take the stage at 8:00 p.m., and the first to do so will be Rumberos, and Bahía Bahitiare, the last.
The rondallas, who return to the Tenerife Auditorium, will perform on February 12, opening the Gran Tinerfe contest, and closing it Las Valkirias. Guimerá will host the Song of Laughter on February 10, with Los Esc@ndinabos breaking the fire and Los Legías, putting it out.
