Olivia Delgado, spokesperson for the PSOE in Arico, criticizes the municipal government because “it has not taken a single step” to execute “the improvement of urbanization and services” of the cove. The socialist councilor affirms that the City Council received “a subsidy granted by the Government of Spain of 382,149 euros». The senator also explains that “this work should have been completed before December 31, 2022, a period that has been extended until June 30, 2023.”
After a visit to the neighborhood, the mayor affirms that the residents were unaware of the existence of this money and they question why the work has not been tendered. “Citizens are absolutely outraged by the contempt and abandonment of the Arico government, which does not meet even their most basic demands,” says Delgado.
For the PSOE, the problems of La Caleta They are lighting, sanitation, undeveloped streets, streets cut off by the collapse of a house for months and “the great plague of rats that has proliferated in the town without the City Council carrying out any rat extermination campaign.”
The work was to be completed on the 31st, but the deadline has been extended until June 30, 2023
For Delgado, “the mayor and his government are condemning the residents of Arico to live in environments without services, dangerous and that do not meet the minimum security measures.” In this sense, the socialist councilor recalls that “the government of CC-PP-PA does not execute the municipal budgets and neither do the subsidies from other administrations such as the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Government of the Canary Islands or the Government of Spain and to cover up this great inability to manage the municipality lies, twitches, divides and deceives the citizenship, in a communication campaign day in and day out”.
The PSOE mayor maintains that “Arico deserves a committed government with management capacity, because they have been ruling for more than 35 years and in recent years the burden that this government has placed on Arico, its neighbors is terrible.” In her criticism, the socialist municipal spokeswoman indicates that “these parties and these people cannot provide a solution to the serious problems that they have created themselves. ” And she gives as an example that “in the year 2021, even the councilor for the Treasury, together with to the rest of the government, held a press conference selling works worth more than 12 million euros that to this day the neighbors are still waiting”.
