SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of Ecological Transition, Territorial Planning and the Fight against Climate Change of the Government of the Canary Islands, José Antonio Valbuena, has defended this Monday that the Executive has been “scrupulous” in the application of the legal framework to paralyze the works of the tourist urbanization ‘ Cradle of the Soul’ in the vicinity of the small port of Adeje (Tenerife) although he has asked that “no one feel persecuted”.
In response to a question from Sí Podemos, in the control session, he insisted on not “demonizing” either the complainants –Tegüico and Salvar La Tejita association– or the accused –the promoter– since they all defend their interests and legal certainty.
He has said that his department works based on technical reports “without attacking any administration” because now, with the opening of the file, all the parties involved will be able to present their allegations and based on an “objective analysis” a final resolution will be taken .
Along these lines, he commented that the Canarian Agency for the Protection of the Natural Environment “acts every day”, even with the demolition of rooms built to accommodate families, stressing that it must act “forcefully” to defend legality.
In the specific case of ‘Cuna del Alma’, the laws of biodiversity, environmental responsibility and environmental impact have been applied.
Manuel Marrero, spokesman for Sí Podemos, has commented that this project is an example of a “late Francoist development model” that provoked the reaction of some “activists” who camped in the area and promoted citizen mobilization.
He has indicated that the works have generated environmental and patrimonial “damage” and regretted that both the developer and the Adeje City Council “have formed a common group” and are looking for “excuses” to try to continue with the work.
Marrero has criticized that deposits have been destroyed and there has been an “attack” against the ‘sad viper’ and has valued with the current legislation and the “courage” of Valbuena and the general director of Heritage, Nona Perera, the works have been stopped .
