The mayor of Tacoronte agrees to expropriate land for more equipment

Tacoronte adds more than 15,000 square meters to municipal land after completing an agreed expropriation process, in which it invested an amount of more than 650,000 euros. This land will be used to increase services and create new public facilities. According to the local government, it is “one of the most important municipal operations that have been carried out in the last fifteen years.”

The Plenary approved these files so that the City Council has, with the sum of other acquisitions made during the mandate, more than 12,000 square meters in Hoya Machado and more than 1,000 square meters for equipment and educational centers on Pérez Reyes street, next to the Youth House, as well as another area in front of the Municipal Pavilion. Altogether, they are more than 15,000 square meters, said the mayor of Tacoronto, José Daniel Díaz.

The councilor explained that with all this the free spaces will be expanded next to the IES Óscar Domínguez and in Hoya Machado. On Pérez Reyes street, the City Council bought land for a new road between the Sports Pavilion and Patronato street. The mayor announces the upcoming acquisition of the La Rotonda building in Mesa del Mar, also for new services and public facilities.

“We will continue with this land acquisition model, because they generate wealth for the entire municipality,” defends Díaz, who assured that the Tacoronte City Council will buy, next year, land destined to build subsidized housing.

Hoya Machado.

José Daniel Díaz specified that part of the land acquired – he maintains that in the 2019 electoral campaign it was cleaned with the purpose of making believe that they were municipally owned – completes the surface of the Hoya Machado sports park. The councilor recalled that it was in this term when the local government resolved the connection of the park with Teobaldo Power street and its surroundings.

In this sense, Díaz Armas pointed out that “the inaction of the previous local government group has prevented us from moving forward with the Hoya Machado Park this year, but now we have made it a reality when we have just materialized the acquisition of more than 12,000 square meters , which represents a larger area (more than double) than what is currently used as a park. The purpose that the mayor and his team set for this space, during the next year, he advanced, is to “continue expanding its surface by some 10,000 more square meters towards the area of El Durazno street, creating a green corridor in the direction of Ismael Dominguez”.

Urbanization next to the IES.

Finally, the mayor of Tacoronte pointed out that another of the land acquisitions approved in the last plenary session is linked to the urbanization that is being carried out next to the Óscar Domínguez Secondary School, where, he pointed out, “we will improve communications in the area.” To do this, the space will be provided with new sidewalks, a square and a car park for the service of the educational center and the nearby park, so that “it is a place and an environment equipped with services.”
