La Laguna studies that the town, San Honorato and Camino La Villa are Low Emission Zones

The La Laguna Plenary approved a motion yesterday, at the proposal of Ciudadanos with an amendment from the Government group, to reaffirm the commitment “to consider the application of Low Emission Zones (ZBE) in the municipality as a strategic objective and that, for Therefore, it must enjoy a broad consensus among all the political forces represented in the Plenary”, according to the agreed text.

The Councilor for the Environment and the Fight against Climate Change, José Luis Hernández, stressed that “it is a strategic issue and it must enjoy the consensus of all the political forces that are in plenary and of La Laguna society”, therefore, “If possible, next week we will call a meeting to give a detailed account of all the steps taken up to now for the application of the LEZ,” he added.

“We want La Laguna to have those areas defined by January 1, at least. We are working with three specific proposals in the town and its surroundings, in some of these areas it also depends on the degree of consensus that exists among the population, previous surveys have been carried out, citizen participation has been carried out in which it is necessary to deepen, and that’s where we are,” explained the mayor.

In subsequent statements, the councilor explained that it is, specifically, the areas of the Casco and the neighborhoods of San Honorato and Camino La Villa, and emphasized that “we propose the LEZs as a rational management of public spaces, rather than as a mere restriction of road traffic”. Specifically, with measures that involve the improvement of public transport, the commitment to pedestrians, the rearrangement of traffic to avoid excessive circulation and parking control, among others.

Inauguration

The ordinary plenary session began with the inauguration of Elena García (PSOE) as the new councilor of the local government group, after the resignation of Alejandro Marrero, former councilor for Finance and Economic Services. The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, welcomed him and congratulated him from the Consistory.

Likewise, the Plenary also approved a four-month extension for the work of the Plenary Commission for the Investigation of Minor Contracts in the 2011-2021 period, at the request of its president, who has already been working for four months and is allowed a single extension. of another four, as confirmed by municipal sources.

Among the motions approved was the proposal by the mayor to reinforce the sense of identity and belonging of the towns and neighborhoods of La Laguna, with the abstention of the PP. The project includes measures to strengthen the attachment of the population to its immediate environment.

Another approved motion, in this case of CC, urges Urban Planning to study the beginning of the corresponding file for a modification of the current planning, for the purposes of the qualification of endowment land in the surroundings of the San Bartolomé de Geneto Citizen Center, to obtain by expropriation, for the construction of a multipurpose sports facility or other endowment use.

As institutional, it was also approved to start the file of honors and distinctions to recognize the Psychomotor Service of the ULL, as well as a motion for the acquisition of the property known as Sociedad Unión Cultural de Geneto, and another to support the postal service of Correos, guaranteeing fill the necessary positions.
