The Public Services area will manage a budget of 56 million in 2023. Most of the money from this budget will be used to pay for large city contracts, such as cleaning, which is 12 million a year, or parks. and gardens, which are another eight million.
The rest of the money goes to writing and executing projects. Among the first, the burying of traffic between Benito Pérez Armas avenue and Reyes Católico stands out. “We have allocated 100,000 euros for the drafting of this project, which aims to bury the traffic right at this intersection on the way out of the city,” explains the councilor for areaCarlos Tarife.
This would be the first of the burials that would be addressed, at least on paper, since already in 2020 the intention to bury all the large crossroads with the Rambla was announced, such as the one on the belgium avenuethe only one that has had a project for years and that should be updated.
In addition to this project, the same amount is also foreseen, 100,000 euros, for the writing of the square that is located between the two towers, in Cabo Llanos. Once the possibility of an underground car park has been ruled out, the area will be provided with a large square that allows residents to enjoy a leisure space. “I have committed myself to the neighbors that, when the drafting of the project is awarded, the editors will sit down with them to listen to their proposals,” says Tarife. In the section on execution of work, the mayor of Public Services highlighted the closure of the La Estrella parks, in the Southwest, and Manuel Castañeda in the Azorín neighborhood. “Each of these projects, already awarded, will cost about 17,000 euros,” explained Tarife. With the closure of these two spaces, there will now be three parks in Santa Cruz that are closed at night, counting the one in Secundino Delgado in the Salamanca neighborhood.
Among the projects announced and that will be carried out in 2023 are the five theme playgrounds that will be located in the different districts. Tarife assures that it has two million euros in the budget to execute these spaces, to which the drafting of one more children’s playground will be added. “This is the children’s playground dedicated to Carnival that will be installed in La Granja park. Once we award the wording, my intention is to share its design with the world of Carnival”, announces the mayor of Public Services.
