Granadilla de Abona established the internal municipal commission for coordination and care for children, whose objective is for the child and adolescent population to achieve adequate personal and social development, as well as to optimize and unite all the resources and professionals who work in the field of care. with children at the local level. The meeting was chaired by the mayor, José Domingo Regalado, and was attended by the Councilor for Social Services, María de la O Gaspar, and technicians and managers from different municipal areas.
Regalado pointed out that, based on the participatory diagnosis that has already been carried out on the situation of social welfare of children and adolescents in the municipality, they project a series of actions in order to improve their situation through the approach proposed by Unicef. For her part, María de la O Gaspar thanked all the agents participating in these meetings for their involvement and pointed out that “this meeting is one more step to request that Granadilla de Abona be a candidate for Child-Friendly City.”
Among the objectives that the government team sets itself with the constitution of this commission are the implementation, in a coordinated and consensual manner, of a series of strategies, actions and measures to transform and improve the state of social welfare of the population child and youth. These actions and measures were designed by the municipal Administration with the different social agents, minors and youth of the municipality.
With this initiative, Granadilla begins to design the plan so that in 2023 these proposals aimed at improving the situation and rights of this population segment are reflected, in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
