SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Government Council of the Canary Islands has approved this Wednesday, at the proposal of the Minister of Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Julio Pérez, the draft decree by which the catalog of jobs of the General Police Corps is expanded by one hundred positions Canaria (CGPC), which now has 476 troops, specifically, 84 police officers, 12 officers, two sub-inspectors and two more inspectors from the Operational Resources Unit (URO).

This extension, with which it is intended to facilitate the deployment of the CGPC throughout the islands, is justified in accordance with the provisions of the fifteenth additional provision of Law 6/2021, of December 28, on General Budgets of the Autonomous Community of Canary Islands for the year 2022, and with article 6 of Law 2/1987, of March 30, of the Canary Public Function, and article 3, section f, of Law 2/2008, of May 28, of the General Corps of the Canary Islands Police, which establishes that the Government of the Canary Islands has jurisdiction over the CGPC for the approval of the staff and the list of jobs, following a report from the Security Policy Council.

Once the draft decree is approved, the CGPC job catalog is made up of a chief commissioner, appointed by the free appointment procedure with a public call, and may be freely removed; two main commissioners, who will gain access to this position through a merit competition among the commissioners of the CGPC, the equivalent commanders of the Security Forces and Corps or the senior officers of the Armed Forces; a commissioner from the Mobile Brigade (Brimo), who will be provided by specific competition, and three commissioners from the Operational Resources Unit (URO), who will reach this position by competition among officials who are on active duty in the employment of deputy commissioners, have a minimum of two years of seniority in said employment, have not been penalized for committing a serious or very serious offense, unless the penalty has been cancelled, and have the required qualifications.

GO “STEP BY STEP”

In addition, the catalog provides for two Brimo sub-commissioners and eight URO sub-commissioners, the first by specific competition and the second by free opposition competition, with reservation of up to 50% of the places for CGPC officials who are in the situation of active service in the job of inspector and meet the aforementioned conditions for commissioners; two inspectors from Brimo and ten from URO, with access by specific competition and merit, respectively, among CGPC officials who are on active duty in the job of sub-inspector and meet the already detailed requirements, and four sub-inspectors from the Brimo and eighteen from the URO, elected under the same procedure as the inspectors, except that they will come from those who have the job of official.

Precisely, the catalog includes eight officers from the Brimo and forty from the URO, appointed through a specific competition and competition-opposition from among the police officers with at least two years of seniority, who had not been subject to a firm sanction for committing a serious misdemeanor. or very serious, unless it has been canceled and sixty Brimo police officers and 317 URO police officers, who will access by specific competition and free opposition, respectively.

The government spokesman, Julio Pérez, has clarified that “what is agreed is not a limit” and is in line with expanding the territorial deployment of the body throughout the archipelago “without stopping” since there are only bases in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, but you have to go “step by step” and without ruling out being able to reach 1,000 workers.
