Icod of the Wines was proclaimed, on November 30, in the Magic Town of Spain 2023. An honorary award that, since 2019, recognizes the effort made by the municipalities that are part of the Network of Magical Towns of Spainconsidering those chosen an example for their management, strategies and achievements.
The municipality located in the north of Tenerife is one of the Canarian municipalities that best preserves island traditions, and a territory with great natural values that make it a first-rate tourist resource.
The magic of this enclave is hidden, among other points, in the Cueva del Viento, the longest volcanic cave in the world and one of the most spectacular.
The Teide It is also especially relevant in Icod de los Vinos, as it possibly offers the best views of the volcano.
Obviously, we cannot forget about the millennial dragona national monument since 1917, which is embraced by an immense botanical park, in the heart of the historic center, where the most representative plants of the Canary Islands are found.

In an interview with this newspaper, the mayor Francis Gonzalez assured that “the fact of being with other pioneering tourist destinations in rural tourism implies the commitment to continue betting on being an authentic people and working in a line of quality, where our own, our traditions, the authenticity of the values that They have many towns that are magical, where life is celebrated and they are active, as well as being beautiful. It is joining a network that works in a line of joint promotion”.
The award will be delivered at the booth of the Network of Magical Towns of Spain at the Madrid International Tourism Fair (FITUR), which will be held next January.
