SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Metrotenerife has registered a historical record in the tram service, reaching 1,650,013 passengers last November, the highest number of tram users transported during a month since the start-up of the light rail in 2007 and which represents 2% more of travelers than the previous brand registered in October 2019 (1,617,265).
The vice president of the Cabildo de Tenerife and president of Metrotenerife, Enrique Arriaga, highlighted in a note that the tram maintains an upward trend in the volume of passengers, in fact, the accumulated demand since the beginning of the year, compared to last year, has grown by 18%.
“We are confident that in this Christmas period the number of passengers will continue to increase and for this, Metrotenerife is going to reinforce the tram services as we have done in other years during these holidays, so that all the indicators point to the fact that we are going to close the year 2022 with very good demand data”, he details.
The month of November also left other record figures for the tram as last Friday, coinciding with the celebration of ‘Black Friday’ and the switching on of the Christmas lights in La Laguna, has been the day with the greatest demand to date, exceeding the 71,500 travelers.
To this must be added the nearly 47,360 users during ‘La Noche en Blanco’, the edition with the best results recorded in the tram service.
With a view to the upcoming Christmas dates, Metrotenerife is already working on defining special tram services for weekends, as well as for Christmas Eve and Christmas (Saturday 24 and Sunday 25), New Year’s Eve (Saturday 31) and Three Kings Eve (Thursday, January 5).
In this way, the transport offer during the Christmas campaign will respond to the needs of the population to travel to the commercial and leisure areas of the metropolitan area.
