The militancy of Podemos elects Idaira Afonso candidate for Mayor in La Laguna



Idaira Afonso, current Councilor for Sports, Equality, LGBTI and Tourism of the La Laguna City Council, will be the Podemos candidate for mayor of the city after the result of the primary process held by the formation.

As number two will be David Carballo, current councilor of the Cabildo de Tenerife; In third place on the list is Talía Acedo, currently responsible for Organization in the municipal Executive and coordinator of the United Municipal Group You Can in the La Laguna City Council, and as number four is Cristo González, also a councilor in the island corporation.

The recently elected mayoral candidate stressed: “We want to continue adding and building the change that we have already been developing in recent years in the municipality, hand in hand with the current allied parties, in order to continue carrying out progressive policies.”

At the same time, Afonso announced that “on the afternoon of December 14 we will celebrate the Future Lagoon Meeting, the public presentation of the candidacy”. Other well-known faces of the formation make up the list, such as Francisco Javier Bermúdez, general director of Social Rights of the Government of the Canary Islands, and Manuel Marrero Morales, spokesman for the Sí Podemos Canarias Parliamentary Group since 2019. Also Giorgia Lorenzetti, current adviser for Sustainable Mobility at the La Laguna City Council, Juan Jesús Arteaga, former general secretary of the Comisiones Obreras union; Virginia Rodríguez, LGBTI activist; and Gerardo Rodríguez, STEC-IC union delegate.

Also included in this team are members of the recently renewed municipal executive of the party, such as Cristian Viera, in charge of Dynamization and Civil Society of Podemos in the municipality, Natalia Peyrac, head of the Secretariat of Diversities and Feminisms, or Jorge Ruiz , Secretary of Education and Strategy.

The list is completed by Maite Esteban, Liti García-Ramos, Carolina Suárez, José María Negrín, Isabel Pérez, Judit Gutiérrez, Daniel Fuertes, Roxana Calero, Félix Fernández, Ibrán Gómez, Ascensión Reyes, Enoc Alonso, José Gregorio Duranza and Alejandro Dionis.
