SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 30 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
More than 60 social entities will participate from this Thursday until Friday afternoon in ‘Visibles’, the first Island Meeting to experience disability, organized by the Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Institute of Social and Socio-Health Care (IASS). and Sinpromi, at the Tenerife Fairgrounds.
The Minister of Social Action, Marián Franquet, presented the program this Wednesday in the company of Ita Gutiérrez, a member of the association Queremos Movernos, and the composer and singer Moise González on behalf of the people and entities that participate in the nearly 20 free activities which will take place on both days of the meeting.
Marián Franquet highlighted that this is the first island meeting and encouraged citizens to participate and learn first-hand about the different realities and diversities that exist.
“We will have four differentiated spaces in which workshops and testimonial talks on disability will be combined with other recreational and leisure activities,” added the counselor, who recalled that the doors of the Fairgrounds will remain open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. .
For her part, Ita Gutiérrez highlighted the importance of working in coordination with associations, as the Cabildo has done, “in line with the principle of talking about disability with disability”, while Moise González assured that “this meeting represents an opportunity to make disability visible and normalize”.
In total there are more than 54 exhibitors in which the entities will be able to show what they do both to the people who attend the meeting and to the rest of the participating associations.
These same associations will give awareness talks about some disabling diseases as well as talks with first-person testimonies, collects a note from the Cabildo.
At the same time, there will be a space dedicated to workshops and dynamic activities so that society can put itself in the shoes of the other and learn a little more about disability through, for example, the route of the senses, a class zumba in a wheelchair and workshops on kinetic art, postural hygiene, inclusive music or sign language, among others.
The program is completed with various music and dance performances that will close the meeting on Friday afternoon, including a batucada, and a concert by Moise González and his orchestra.
All activities are free and open to the participation of the general public. Interested persons may consult the program on the IASS website and at Sinpromi.
