The Budget of La Victoria de Acentejo for 2023 grows 11.27% and stands at 9.6 million euros

The City Council of La Victoria de Acentejo has approved its Budget for 2023 in the last plenary session, which reflects an amount of 9,656,189.64 euros, which represents an increase of 11.27%, 977,780 euros more, in relation to the current year , becoming the largest budgetary project that the municipality has had so far.

The victorious mayor, Juan Antonio García Abreu, emphasizes that the main economic document of the Consistory “is level and balanced. It is based on prudence, control of public spending and the search for efficiency and effectiveness in municipal management. “Although -he adds- these are basic criteria in the administration of public coffers, they are especially relevant in the current situation of economic uncertainty and inflationary scenario. For this reason, it gives us extra peace of mind to also meet the objectives of budgetary stability and public debt”

The well-being of people is the central axis of this budget. Proof of this is that 1,861,955 euros (19.28%) are allocated to social services and social promotion, 525,890 to education and culture and 476,570 to sports. Among the planned assistance aids are those for a social emergency (86,000 euros), a food bank (32,000 euros) and a shelter for victims of gender violence (35,000 euros). In the section of subsidies that the Consistory will convene next year, those destined to the development of activities to promote education (50,500 euros), culture (61,000 euros) and sport (89,000 euros) stand out.

The most outstanding aspect of the financial file of the City Council of La Victoria de Acentejo is the increase of 45.34% in the investment chapter, estimated at 2,382,138.37 euros (24.67% of the total economic document). With regard to the works that will be carried out exclusively with own funds, noteworthy are the improvements in the water supply network (350,000 euros), the remodeling of the La Pólvora area (300,000 euros), part of the rehabilitation of the House of Dean Calzadilla (115,095 euros) or the acquisition of land for public use (90,000 euros). While among the co-financed actions, the construction of the park and ride park on Pérez Díaz street (1,392,866 euros) and the photovoltaic installations for self-consumption of energy in the El Pinar Sports Complex, in the Marrero municipal water tank and in other municipal buildings stand out. (1,030,854 euros). “We continue in our firm commitment to energy efficiency, investing in clean, sustainable and environmentally friendly energy sources, which, in addition, in the medium term will mean great savings on the municipal electricity consumption bill,” the mayor added.

La Victoria de Acentejo will have a powerful investment plan to face important actions that will begin to be carried out throughout the next year, when some of the most anticipated works of the decade will come to an end, such as the residence for the elderly, the extension of the municipal library, the second phase of the residence of La Vera or the reform of the Plaza de Santo Domingo, among others.

On the other hand, the 2023 accounts will once again reflect a decrease in municipal debt through the reduction in the number of loans contracted by the Consistory and, therefore, interest and financial expenses, since another of the subscribed credits will be canceled with banks for more than four years. “During this term we have canceled three of the four loans that were when we came to the Government,” says the councilor for Finance, Daniel Izquierdo.

With 1,561,655 euros, the direct income chapter represents 16.17% of the overall budget. The mayor stresses that, once again, the tax burden will not increase: “All tax rates remain at the same level as the previous year.”
