The accused of killing his brother-in-law fled to Gran Canaria after the crime

The accused of killing his brother-in-law and stabbing his sentimental partner in the municipality of Isora Guide In the early hours of last Sunday, he had time to flee to Gran Canaria hours after the crime and to return to Tenerife on Monday, November 28, before being arrested by investigators from the Civil Guard at 2:00 p.m. in the south of the island. The alleged perpetrator of a consummated intentional homicide and another in an attempted homicide on the aforementioned woman entered the room where both people were spending the night and threatened them with the phrase: “I’m going to to kill both of them.” The action occurred as a result of his current sentimental partner deciding to go live with his brother in the living room in the Fonsalía neighborhood where the owner of a building had let him stay for a few days.

The owner of the Court of Instruction number 1 of Arona specialized in Violence against Women agreed on the afternoon of last Tuesday the entry into provisional prison, communicated and without bail for Karim, who, for now, remains admitted to the Psychiatry Unit of the Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria University Hospital. But the judge has already determined that, since he is discharged from said health resource, he must be transferred to the Arona Palace of Justice to take a statement and, immediately, he will have to enter the Tenerife II penitentiary center.

The judicial authority considers that said Moroccan citizen is the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of consummated intentional homicide, attempted intentional homicide, breaking and entering, serious threats and threats against privacy, as stated in the order for admission to prison. In addition, the judge has imposed a restraining order on the surviving woman, so she cannot come closer than 500 meters from the place where she lives or works. The request for admission to prison and the restraining order was requested both by the Prosecutor’s Office and by the lawyer for the private prosecution, insofar as there is a serious risk of escape, possibility of criminal repetition and that it threatens the property of the affected woman, who is also of Moroccan origin. And the defense lawyer opposed both measures. Based on the investigation carried out by agents of the Team for Crimes against Persons and the Territorial Team of the Judicial Police of the South of Tenerife of the Civil Guard, Karim arrived at Los Tarajales de Fonsalía street at 3:30 a.m. He was carrying a large knife, as well as a dagger, and forced open a side window of the garage where the two victims were sleeping at the time. Once inside he yelled the phrase: “I’m going to kill you both.” His 38-year-old partner received several smacks.

The person investigated was sentenced once for injuries and another time for threats to a previous partner

He then grabbed her by the hair and smashed her head against a wall. And then he used a knife to stab the woman. In the left thigh he stabbed him four times, while between the hip and the thigh he inflicted another two stab wounds, three and four centimeters deep. Later, the investigated man left the garage, followed his 30-year-old brother-in-law , and, after throwing him to the ground, he stabbed him one or two times in the abdomen that caused his death, to the extent that the health personnel could not revive said victim. This evolution of the events was reported by the couple of the alleged perpetrator, by several eyewitnesses, residents of the Los Tarajales street, and by the forensic doctor who carried out the removal of the corpse. After being arrested, a forensic doctor who evaluated the psychological state of the individual determined that he was not in a position to testify last Tuesday and that he should continue to be admitted, for now, in the aforementioned Psychiatry Unit.

On Saturday he warned the wounded man that he would either go back to him or kill his co-workers with a knife.

This circumstance led the defense lawyer to request his admission to a psychiatric center. As an example of the flight risk that exists with Karim, the judge considered that, after killing her brother-in-law and injuring her partner, she was untraceable for about 34 hours. And, in fact, she traveled to Gran Canaria on Sunday and, the next day, she returned to Tenerife. The woman stated that, during most of her relationship, the defendant has exercised control over her. It was to such an extent that he even installed a spy program on the victim’s mobile phone to control his communications. In addition, on Saturday he appeared at his sentimental partner’s workplace with a razor and threatened to kill his friends. co-workers if she did not return to him and quit her job. Karim has two criminal records. One conviction is motivated by a crime of injuries committed in 2014. The other sentence was produced by threats to his former sentimental partner, which is directly linked to the events that occurred last weekend, according to the aforementioned judge, who confirms the violent profile of the now accused of intentional homicide.

During his stay at the University Hospital Our Lady of La Candelaria, the alleged perpetrator of the crime must remain in the custody of agents of the security forces. In addition, from said health center a report on the state of Karim must be issued every 24 hours.
