Christmas shopping arrives and, with them, the dreaded traffic jams in Santa Cruz. Nobody wants to stand for hours at the entrance to the capital or inside one of the underground car parks that collapse during these dates. In order to try to anticipate these situations and, in the event that they occur, act to decongest the roads, the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has activated a special traffic device.
Specifically, due to the foreseeable traffic jams in Santa Cruz this Christmas season and the high influx of people to the commercial areas of the city, it will be the Traffic Control Room of the City Council that will expand its operation during some key days.
The days chosen for the device will be Sundays and opening holidays, between 10:00 and 22:00. On those dates, said room will support the work of the Local Police, managing the traffic lights or controlling the bollards. The dates that the device will be active are as follows: December 4, December 6, December 8, December 11, December 18, and December 26.
An announcement to which the CSIF union of the Local Police has not been slow to respond, which has criticized that in the absence of agents, they choose to intensify control in cameras and traffic lights.
