SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The promoter of the ‘Cuna del Alma’ tourist resort –currently paralyzed in the vicinity of Puertito de Adeje– has filed an appeal against the sanction file opened by the Canary Islands Agency for the Protection of the Natural Environment, which denies the petition to move the ‘sad snake’ that has been located in the area.
In a statement, the promoter points out that the Cabildo de Tenerife is the competent body to decide on the translocation of the ‘sad viborina’ since 2002 and not the Government of the Canary Islands and according to the Law, since 2010 the municipal environmental body is the competent to decide on the translocation.
In this line, it details that the Law authorizes the translocation of this type of species when it is a public work of general interest and in this case, the urbanization roads that are being built are municipally owned and include regional roads and regional pipelines. for Wastewater Treatment Plant, treatment plant, desalinated water or wastewater already treated and suitable for irrigation.
Therefore, the promoter defends that this project “should be considered as a work of public interest.”
It also points out that the Ministry has granted authorizations to translocate viborina for public works in other locations, such as Arona in 2021 in identical circumstances, and describes the refusal as “unjustified, disproportionate and arbitrary”.
Thus, it affirms that in the event that this request is rejected, it will proceed to go to the courts of justice.
