SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –
More than 100,000 people attended the 14th edition of La Noche en Blanco in La Laguna yesterday, Saturday, in which no significant incidents were recorded during the 15-hour duration of an event that took place in practically all the streets and squares of the historic center of the World Heritage city.
“Successful programming and successful participation,” said the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, who congratulated the entire organizing team, the security and emergency teams, and especially the public “for exemplary behavior , because together with the switching on of the Christmas lights, this White Night has been the best showcase of La Laguna, an invitation to enjoy Christmas in our city”.
The councilor for the local Area of Commerce and Economic Development, Aitami Bruno, has made a first assessment of the data from the day and the economic impact that this LNB 2022 has had. Aitami Bruno reported that a total of 27 health assistance was charge of the device deployed throughout the event, of which only 4 required referral to a health center or hospital. Likewise, it was only necessary to intervene in 3 cases of public disorder and 2 attentions to minors were registered.
All these performances took place in the so-called ‘adult’ time, which began at 8:00 p.m., and “represent exceptionally low figures for an event with such a high influx of attendees, which demonstrates both the rapid response and the great work carried out by the members of the security and emergency operation, as well as the willingness of residents and visitors, who came to have fun with family or friends, attracted by a day of leisure and different culture and by the special commercial and gastronomic offer of La Laguna”, highlighted the councilor.
For the mayor, “this 14th edition has been a resounding success, with a program that has satisfied the public and that has filled each of the multiple spaces through which the activities have been distributed, from the Plaza de San Benito to the Plaza Víctor Zurita. Only the concert by Coque Malla and The Monkey Faces in Plaza del Cristo brought together more than 5,000 people, a full house that was also produced at the closing party LNB White Vibes”.
“In addition, although in the coming days we will carry out a more complete analysis, we know that LNB has had a considerable impact on the volume of sales and consumption in shops and catering establishments in the historic center, as we were told from the first hour of afternoon many representatives of the local sector”, highlighted Aitami Bruno.
Likewise, he announced that the Area team is already working on the promotional and revitalization strategy for the sector in view of the Christmas campaign, with actions that, as in the November Commercial program, will be extended to all districts to support trade close to the towns and neighborhoods of La Laguna.
La Noche en Blanco 2022 had a special security and emergency device, made up of the National Police Force, Civil Guard, Canarian Autonomous Police, Local Police, Civil Protection, Tenerife Fire Consortium and Red Cross. Likewise, a broad health operation was deployed, with fixed medical care posts in the Plaza de la Junta Suprema and Víctor Zurita, ambulances in the busiest points and troops equipped to provide care in areas that are difficult for vehicles to access.
Likewise, given the forecast of a massive influx to the historic center, public transport was reinforced from early morning until well into the morning. Metrotenerife line 1 had double trams and a frequency of 10 minutes until 03:00 on Sunday, while Titsa reinforced the lines that connect the Interchange with Santa Cruz, the North and the Northeast, with increased hours and seats on the lines 014, 015, 050 and 104, in addition to launching a free shuttle bus service between the car parks of the Alcampo La Laguna Shopping Center and the Laguna Interchange.
Likewise, in collaboration with entities and companies, 6 extra temporary parking areas were set up, totaling more than 5,000 extra spaces and which were located on the Anchieta university campus, the CEIP Nuestra Señora del Consejo, the Casa del Ganadero and the Shopping Center Alcampo La Laguna.
