The Candelaria City Council has called the tender for three reform and legalization projects for public lighting of 21 municipal roads. An action that will involve an investment of 1,315,119 euros, according to the municipal government.
Mari Brito, mayoress of Villa Mariana, explains that the actions “will make it possible to renew existing public lighting” as well as its adaptation “to more efficient technologies.” The objective pursued by the Consistory is “to reduce their energy consumption, thus allowing to promote energy saving and improve energy efficiency.” The councilor also stresses that these interventions will also optimize public spaces.
Along these lines, the Councilor for Public Works and Services, Jorge Baute, states that the development of this project is clearly justified by the poor condition of the existing facilities, a consequence of their age and the continuous exposure to weather agents.

With all this, lighting levels will be adapted to visual needs during night hours, light pollution will be limited and energy efficiency will be increased, he points out.
