The Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has acquitted the current mayor of La Orotava, Francisco Linares, as well as the former mayor Isaac Valencia; the councilors Narciso Pérez, Luis Hernández and Belén González, and the former councilors Juan Dóniz, Domingo Acosta and Johana Santos for the crane service contract approved by the Plenary of the Municipal Corporation in 2011.
This judicial procedure has been developed for twelve years. The current villero mayor, who at that stage was councilor for Education and Culture, has expressed his satisfaction with the sentence and has valued “the rigorous work and the exhaustive investigation that justice has carried out during all these years, in which the The City Council has always collaborated by delivering everything that was requested, precise documents and whatever was necessary to clarify the facts.
In this sense, he assured that justice has been trusted because “nothing wrong has ever been done.” “We are honest and hard-working people and the only thing we did, the Municipal Corporation at that time, was to approve the extension of the provisional contract, for one year, for the towing service for the removal of vehicles, since technically it could not be tendered and to not be left without providing the service with the problems that this entailed”, he pointed out.
“It was an exceptional measure, as the new tender was being prepared, and what was approved by all the political groups was fulfilled,” Linares added.
