SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The plenary session of the Cabildo de Tenerife has unanimously approved this Friday the awarding of the ‘Gold Medal of the Island’ to CD Tenerife.
The proposal, raised a few months ago by the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, previously obtained the support of the Commission of Honors and Distinctions of the island corporation, which includes all the political parties represented in the institution.
The insular president highlighted this unanimous recognition by the entire corporation towards one of the symbols of the island.
“CD Tenerife unites us all. It is a feeling and a passion both for current generations and for those who have preceded us. The Cabildo and the Club have always walked together according to what they represent in society. Congratulations to everyone from Tenerife because this recognition is a source of pride for everyone,” he said.
For his part, the top blue and white leader, Miguel Concepción, thanked the Gold Medal awarded since “this special year practically comes to an end with this recognition by an institution so loved and respected by the people of Tenerife”, collects a note from the Cabildo .
In this sense, he details that “the Cabildo has always been with the club and has a very prominent and important role in different events that occurred both in the past and in the present and also this close collaboration is linked to the future, as has been reflected recently with the inauguration of the new facilities of the Sports City of Tenerife”.
During the one hundred years that have elapsed since its foundation, CD Tenerife has actively participated in the sporting and socioeconomic life of the island and although its headquarters were established in the capital, where it also undertook the construction of a new gaming venue –the Stadium inaugurated in 1925, where the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stands today–, the feeling of Tenerife spreads throughout the insular geography, in each and every one of its municipalities.
The distinction will be delivered at a public ceremony to be held soon.
