SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE/MADRID, Nov. 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The average pension increased by 5.2% in the Canary Islands in November compared to the same month of the previous year to stand at 997.3 euros, below the national average, which reached 1,094.02 euros, as reported this Friday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations.

There are a total of 348,850 pensioners on the islands, of which 49,538 are due to permanent disability; 198,014 for retirement; 82,373 due to widowhood; 16,512 for orphans and 2,413 for other relatives.

In Spain, Social Security allocated a record 10,913 million euros to the payment of contributory pensions in the month of November, 6.1% more than in the same month of 2021, and in homogeneous terms, with an increase of 4 .5% year-on-year.

The department headed by José Luis Escrivá estimates that pension spending stood at 11.7% of GDP in the eleventh month of the year, a lower percentage than in 2020 (12.4% of GDP), a year conditioned by the impact of the pandemic on GDP, and also lower than that of 2021 (12.1% of GDP).

Along with this month’s payroll, Social Security will also pay pensioners the extraordinary pay for November for an amount of 10,649 million euros.

Of the 10,913 million euros that were dedicated in November to the payment of contributory pensions, almost three quarters (72.5%) were allocated to the payment of retirement pensions, which totaled 7,914.2 million euros , 6.7% more than in November last year.

For its part, the payment of orphan’s benefits entailed an amount of 149.6 million (+4.8%), and that of benefits in favor of family members totaled 28.6 million euros (+7.1%). .
