The Autonomous Organization for Festivals and Recreational Activities (OAFAR) of the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has declared deserted this Thursday the contest for the stage construction that will host the different galas and contests of Carnival 2023.
In order to comply with the construction procedures for this scenic space, the Governing Council of the OAFAR, meeting in an extraordinary way this Thursday, has agreed to implement the necessary administrative procedures for carrying out a negotiation procedure without publicity, provided for in the contracting law. current public.
In this regard, the Councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, has indicated in a statement that “from the organization we continue working to have all the details of Carnival 2023 in a timely manner” but the absence of participants in the tender “has led us to carry out this procedure contemplated in the public procurement law to solve these situations”.
Cabello has affirmed that “the volatility of the global market and the increase in the price of raw materials explain this situation.”
However, he has indicated that he will try to close agreements with different suppliers to build the corporeal stage “of the best carnival in the world”, while ensuring that the original budget, established at 230,000 euros, will not be modified.
The stage space that will host the Carlos Santos project will be located in the Fairgrounds and will occupy an approximate area of 2,000 square meters, with a width of 60 meters and a 25-meter central door leading to the stage.
To access it, there will be three 23-meter ramps and a 14.5-meter extension that will house the rotary.
In the second item on the agenda, the Governing Council approved the file relating to the contracting of the artistic services of the carnival groups of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The OAFAR will continue to work with the nine groups that have initially been left out of this contract, so that once the inconveniences that have prevented it are resolved, a new procedure can be started.
