SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 23 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Noble Hall of the Cabildo de Tenerife has hosted today Wednesday the presentation of Gamelab Tenerife 2022, a meeting of the videogame sector that will bring together the main European leaders of the industry to discuss its challenges and opportunities and that will culminate with a public event that will will be held next Monday at the Auditorio de Tenerife. Attendees will be able to enjoy talks and meetings with professionals.
Present at the event were the First Vice President and Island Councilor for Innovation, Enrique Arriaga; the director of HiperDino Gaming (HDG) and executive producer of Gamelab Tenerife, Antonio Cabrera, and the director of Gamelab, Iván Fernández, who presented the details of this event that is organized by Gamelab and has the collaboration of the Innovation area of the Cabildo , HiperDino Gaming (HDG) and the HiperDino Canarian E-sports League.
Enrique Arriaga pointed out that Gamelab Tenerife “is much more than a meeting for video game lovers, it is a business opportunity for the Island, a pioneering experience in which we take a step forward in terms of innovation and technology in the Canary Islands and with which We promote tourism and job creation”.
Likewise, Arriaga highlighted “the possibilities and business opportunities that companies in the sector can have on the Island, an attraction that can motivate them to settle in Tenerife” and assured that he hopes that “in the future this unprecedented event on the Island will continue to grow, Well, we hope it will be the first of many editions”.
For his part, the director of HiperDino Gaming (HDG) and executive producer of Gamelab Tenerife, Antonio Cabrera, spoke, first of all, of HDG, a brand that has allowed them to “get involved in projects as ambitious as Gamelab Tenerife 2022”. In addition, as executive producer of the event, Cabrera stressed the importance of having an event of this magnitude in Tenerife, since “years ago it was unthinkable.”
The director of Gamelab, Iván Fernández, highlighted “the growth of the Spanish industry in the last decade, and the importance of Tenerife betting on promoting an ecosystem of talent that helps attract investment and employment to the island”. According to Fernández, “Tenerife has enviable conditions to develop and promote the creativity that video game companies need, and it can be a place of relief for the pressure imposed by the unstoppable growth of the sector in the main European cities.”
Likewise, he underlined the importance and uniqueness of the fact that the first European summit of the video game sector is held in Tenerife and assured that the fact that “European leaders choose the island to meet could lead to important business opportunities for our country”. also highlighting in this sense that “the economic influence of the companies represented at the summit exceeds 100 billion dollars a year and that the possibilities of Tenerife to attract business in this area are real”.
COMMITMENT TO THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY
Gamelab Tenerife will start next Monday at 10:30 a.m. and will end around 6:30 p.m. It will have more than 100 speakers and delegates, representing a total of 17 countries and 90 companies and organizations of international relevance, including industry associations, development studios, publishers, training centers, investment funds and technology platforms.
The event will be divided into several areas where attendees can enjoy different activities. Thus, the Chamber Room will bring together sessions by veterans of the video game sector, while the Developer Sessions, located in the main hall, will hold round tables, training sessions, talks and interviews with members of the indie industry.
As a celebration of the national indie development, IndieGG Encounters will accompany the congress with the Indie Showcase; an exhibitor of audiovisual content in which visitors will be able to discover video games from the independent scene at the national level. The finishing touch will be the Pitch Indie, as some studios will have the opportunity to present their projects to the general public.
Finally, Gamelab Tenerife will have areas dedicated to professionals in the sector, who will be able to meet with other members of the guild in workspaces.
