This Thursday, at 6:30 p.m., the Christmas lighting of Santa Cruz will be switched on. The Canarian singer Nia Correia will be the guest artist for an act in which, in addition, it will be possible to enjoy a small theatrical performance for the little ones in the Pavilion in the Plaza del Príncipe, which will become a magic box.
The singer will be accompanied by the Choir of White Voices of the Autonomous Organization of Culture. With this act the Christmas program of the capital begins, which will last until January 5, and which will be made up of more than 65 acts.
Yesterday, the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, accompanied by the mayor of Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello; from Public Services, Carlos Tarife, and from the Councilors for Culture and Security, Gladis de León and Evelyn Alonso, presented the details of a program in which the main novelty is the return to normality.
“Santa Cruz will be, one more year, the capital of Christmas, thanks to a careful programming for all ages that will bring the magic of these dates to the five districts,” said the councilor.
Bermúdez highlighted “the return to normality, as the greatest gift for the capital”, in addition to anticipating that “the culmination of this festive period will be the reception at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López and the subsequent Parade of the Three Kings that resumes its usual route , and the New Year’s Eve party in the Plaza de La Candelaria”.
As for the most significant events, on December 10 the Bethlehem in Plaza de la Candelaria will be inaugurated, with a new design. The Plaza del Príncipe will once again host the traditional Christmas concerts, with Los Fregolinos or the Christmas carol festival.
Also folkloric groups will animate the streets of the city. As for the markets, the Christmas market will be installed in the Alameda del Duque de Santa Elena from December 15 until the night of January 5.
The Gastromercadillo will also display its culinary offer in the Plaza de España, from December 16 to January 8, with a program of its own musical activities to liven up the different days. From January 3 to 5, it will take place in the Plaza de la Iglesia de la Concepción Dreamer Market, a commercial space with 49 tents.
