A hundred women from the south of the Island inaugurated the forum Women: space for dialogue, an initiative of DC through which the candidates for the Cabildo de TenerifeRosa Dávila, and the Parliament of the Canary Islands for Tenerife, Ana Oramas, analyze the situation experienced by this segment of the population, which they face every day in their jobs. In an act held at the San Isidro Cultural Center, both learned first-hand of the difficulties they go through on a daily basis in order to carry out policies to improve their well-being.
From women entrepreneurs to workers for others, Dávila and Oramas listened to the daily problems that this group goes through, such as wage discrimination, the deficit in family reconciliation or the glass ceiling, among others.
The initiative of the Tenerife nationalists consists of collecting, listening and analyzing the situations that the women of Tenerife live in their day to day. To do this, they will hold meetings throughout the Island. The first, which brought together women from the southern zone, was attended by the mayor of Granadilla de Abona, José Domingo Regalado.
Rosa Dávila defends that “it is time for women to try to normalize our presence in areas of responsibility and business or labor management, among others. We have the same skills and qualifications and we are aware that it is necessary to break the glass ceilings in companies, but also that it must be done normally”.
Ana Oramas sent a message of hope by assuring that “the nationalist men and women of Tenerife and Canary Islands we are going to work so that being a woman is not an obstacle; so that the opportunities are, on this earth, the same for everyone; so that they can reconcile work and family life; so that older women have dignified care and young women opportunities and training.”
